Academic
Duncombe offers a diverse curriculum with lots of practical activities and a variety of outings and events. Our educational programme is designed to educate the whole child, beginning at 2 years old in Treetops, our Early Years' department and developing through the Main School to senior school entry at age 11.
Although Duncombe is a non-selective school, we are proud of our established reputation for high academic standards. The capacity of our staff for helping every child make the most of his or her abilities is evidenced by our SATs results, which are consistently outstanding and well above national levels, and by our success at senior school entry. Our children progress to a range of secondary schools at the end of Year 6 (age 11) and Duncombe has an exceptional record of scholarships to independent schools. Duncombe pupils are warmly welcomed by senior schools and we delight in the progress and success they go on to achieve from the foundation gained with us.
Duncombe's curriculum covers a wide range of subjects, including English, Maths, Science, ICT, Humanities, Religious Education, Music, Art and Design Technology, Sport and Drama. French is introduced in Nursery and Latin in Year 3. Subjects are taught in a practical manner relative to the age and ability of the children and we have specialist teaching staff in many areas.
