Extra Curricular Activities
Duncombe believes that by encouraging children to explore a wide variety of opportunities, it will equip them with the skills, confidence and aspirations to broaden their horizons and develop their independence.
Most of the visits and events experienced by our pupils are of an educational nature and linked to the curriculum. Recent trips for the younger children have included a local train journey, a visit to a pizza restaurant to make their own pizzas, an activity day at St Albans Abbey and days out to Windsor castle and to a wildlife park. As children progress through the school they will have many opportunities to visit stately homes, historic sites, galleries and museums, to enjoy theatre and concert outings, literary weekends and field trips to environmental centres.
In addition there is an annual residential outdoor pursuits and adventure holiday for our Year 5 pupils, a five day French trip combining experience of French life, language and culture with various outward-bound activities for Year 6, a long weekend French exchange with a Parisian school and the annual Duncombe Easter ski trip which in recent years has visited Norway, Austria and the USA and which is very popular with parents and children alike.
After School Club provides a wide range of activities which vary on a seasonal basis but typically include sports, gymnastics, ballet, chess, art, crafts, drama and gardening.
