Please be assured that staff are contactable each day during our term times and are available to support pupils through their OnlineTeaching and Learning Programme.
You should email with any query as you would normally do. However, please be aware it will not always be possible for teachers to get back to you immediately so please be patient. As it says in our ‘Netiquette pdf’ ‘It’s harder when online to know what others are thinking and how they are feeling. So remember to assume your peers (and teachers)have positive intentions and give them the benefit of the doubt.’
Please be reminded that we may not know all the answers but will commit to finding a solution within our expertise and experience.
Please do contact your child’s Form Teacher if you have any general queries.
If there is an issue relating to the work itself, please contact the relevant subject teacher in the first instance.
If you have general questions regarding our academic provision, please direct these to Mrs Micele-Jones Apollonia.Micele@duncombe-school.co.uk
If you have general questions regarding our pastoral provision, please direct these to Heads of Phase:
Mrs Katie Copeman Katie.Copeman@duncombe-school.co.uk
Miss Nicola Sands Nicola.Sands@duncombe-school.co.uk
If you have general questions regarding safeguarding, please direct these to our Designated Safeguarding Lead Miss Nicola Sands Nicola.Sands@duncombe-school.co.uk who may use one of her Safeguarding Team to respond.
I can be contacted on Jeremy.Phelan@duncombe-school.co.uk
Getting the Most From Online Learning
We will release regular resources for parents to help you navigate the new world of online learning programmes for your child. We will update you regularly on new content, including parent webinars. The first of these will be the week after the Easter holidays and will be about preparing your child for learning in the Summer term.
Be Well Tips and Advice for Families
Our focus on wellbeing has never been more important. We are supporting our families and our people in managing the impact of coronavirus with new focused content in the area of wellbeing. These include a range of ‘Cognita Be Well Tips’ on dealing with school closures and talking to your child about coronavirus. More on these and other resources can be found on the Cognita website.
Additional IT Support for Students/Parents
In order to provide an additional level of support to parents and students who are using online teaching resources during school closures, we have set up a process to allow tickets to be logged through our Service Desk and routed through to IT support teams. In order to log a ticket for any issues experienced students or parents should send an email to: OnlineLearningSupport@cognitaschools.co.uk
In order to progress support in the quickest possible time please ensure that the email request has a subject line of: School Name –Student Name
Within the body of the email please provide us with the following information:
A brief and clear summary of the issue that is being seen
A screenshot of the error or issue where possible
Agreed / Preferred method(s) of communication (eg Email, Phone, Teams Chat etc)
Please be advised that we will endeavour to provide as much support and guidance to our students and parents as possible in order to help with connectivity and personal home setups, however, as these are unknown to us and not in line with Cognita standards these may fall outside of our own knowledge and experience.
As this is a newly introduced way of working and we are expecting high volumes of IT support requests, we thank you for your continued patience in advance.
