Welcome to ‘Starbooks’
Team Duncombe are very excited to share the launch of our ‘Starbooks Café’ for our children in Years 3-6, created by our Head of English, Miss Cartwright.
Starbooks is our virtual library but in a fun café setting – somewhere to share book recommendations, sites to support reading in lockdown and to promote book discussions with the children directly.
There is lots on offer at Starbooks including:
Check out Miss Cartwright’s and Duncombe Bear’s recommended reads. When the children click on any of the books on the virtual ‘shelf’ a link will take them through to an author reading an excerpt of the book, allowing the children to get a ‘flavour’ before they start to read.
Team Duncombe teachers and our Patron of Reading, Alice Hemming, are also recommending great reads, sharing further details about the book and where they can find information from the author.
ONLINE READING RESOURCES
Miss Cartwright will be sharing Duncombe Bear’s research of where the children can access free reading material such as Get Epic! and Oxford Owls. Additionally, there will be a weekly posting of the First News newspaper.
Starbook Café is the vision and creation of Miss Cartwright. The café has uniquely been created for our children to bring reading to life. Another way of how our teachers at Duncombe School go above and beyond to enrich and inspire our children’s education.
Join us at Starbooks for your next coffee break and check out our virtual bookshelves.
