Friday 25th April
Welcome back! And a very warm welcome to our new families. I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable Easter break. It has been wonderful to see the children return with such energy and enthusiasm. They have certainly hit the ground running—working hard in lessons, engaging positively with their peers, and embracing all that the summer term has to offer.
We began the term on a real high, celebrating our exceptional 11+ outcomes. Duncombe has secured the best results in the local area—an outstanding achievement and a true testament to the dedication of our pupils and staff. We are incredibly proud of each and every child.
Our Open Morning today was also a great success. A heartfelt thank you to all of our families who continue to recommend Duncombe to others—this remains our most effective form of enquiry, and we are so grateful for your ongoing support. Visiting families were full of praise for our school, with many commenting on the warm atmosphere, engaged pupils, and purposeful learning. One parent, after being toured by our wonderful Year 6 guides, shared: “It was so clear to us what the impact on the pupils the school has—that is just what we want for our children.” Always lovely to hear!
We’re also delighted to welcome Ms Sandra Wright to the Duncombe team. She has settled in incredibly quickly, and we’re thrilled to have her on board. Do look out for her introduction piece later in this newsletter.
Next week is shaping up to be a busy and exciting one! Swimming sessions for Years 2–4 begin on Tuesday, we have a STEM day at Haileybury for our invited scientists, a number of sporting fixtures, and plenty more besides.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to all the opportunities this term will bring.
