Friday 2nd May
It’s been a glorious week of sunshine and superb opportunities here at Duncombe, and I’m delighted to share a few highlights with you as we head into the Bank Holiday weekend.
Our Year 6 Enrichment Programme is now in full swing, with pupils enthusiastically taking part in the Bikeability course. It’s been a joy to see them building confidence and skills while making the most of the fine weather – an excellent combination of learning and enjoyment!
Meanwhile, our Upper School STEM team had a fantastic time at the recent STEM Day hosted by Haileybury College winning the Physics Prize for the second year in a row! There was a real buzz of excitement as pupils tackled challenges and explored innovation – congratulations to all involved! Do look out for the report in the newsletter.
Treetops were delighted to be visited this week by our very own Mrs Brown, who shared road crossing safety lessons with the children. With a mini lollipop as a prop the children learnt about the importance of The Green Cross Code- a reminder can be found via the link Green cross code
This week, our Hatfield House Charity team introduced the focus charity for this term: The National Trust. In assembly, the team shared how this remarkable organisation protects both our natural environment and cultural heritage. Pupils heard about how they can get involved with the charity events planned and support this valuable work – please take a moment to explore the links included in this newsletter.
Excitement is building for our Under 11 Boys’ Football Team, who will be heading to St. George’s Park
England’s National Football Centre – to represent the East of England at the ISFA National Finals. This is anincredible opportunity for our pupils to experience the same facilities used by the England squad, and we’re so proud of them. We wish them every success and know they will represent Duncombe with pride and sportsmanship.
Looking ahead to next week, following Monday’s Bank Holiday, the rest of the week promises to be just as purposeful and busy! We have Class and Team Photos on Wednesday, and on Friday we look forward to the 1S Assembly, always a highlight of the term.
Wishing you all a restful long weekend. Mr Phelan
