Friday 9th May
What a fantastic and full week it has been at Duncombe!
We began the week cheering on our talented U11 team at the ISFA National Finals hosted at the St Greorge’s Park training ground in Derbyshire. It was a truly competitive and enjoyable experience, with the boys finishing an impressive 17th nationally! This is an incredible achievement, and one that Mr Sopher, Mr Granville and Mr Flynn – along with the whole school – are enormously proud of. The team displayed outstanding determination, teamwork and spirit, going toe-to-toe with strong opposition and representing Duncombe with pride. Well done, boys!
Speaking of pride, we are absolutely delighted to share that Duncombe has retained its Green Flag Award! This prestigious recognition celebrates the continued dedication of our pupils, ably led by the Green Council, in making real strides on environmental issues. A special thank you and congratulations to Ms Izzet and the entire Green Council – your leadership and passion for sustainability are inspiring. More updates to follow soon!
This morning brought yet more joy as 1S delivered a truly magical Class Assembly. With “Fairy Tales” as their theme, they explored what it means to be a hero – taking risks, showing kindness, and being true to oneself. With fabulous costumes, expressive performances, poems and songs, they captivated the entire audience. A huge well done to 1S and all the staff who supported them – what a show!
Across the school, classes are buzzing with activity. Year 2 are preparing to showcase their learning at next week’s Open Classroom event, and Year 3 are eagerly looking ahead to their residential trip to Mersea Island on Thursday. We also have a number of sports fixtures mid-week, keeping our teams active and engaged.
Thank you for your continued support – we are so proud of all our pupils and the vibrant, positive energy they bring each day.
Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable weekend. Mr Phelan
